Goalball
In goalball, two teams of three players each compete on the court. All players must have some degree of visual impairment (B1, B2, or B3) and are required to wear eye patches (validated by the organization) and blindfolds to ensure equal conditions.
The objective is to throw the ball by hand so that it crosses the opposing team’s goal line. Players must make their throws from within their own area. The ball contains bells inside, allowing players to locate it by sound.
The defending team must try to block the ball with their bodies, using the sound to anticipate its trajectory. After each throw, players must quickly prepare to defend against the opposing team’s attack. Each team has a center, a right wing, and a left wing, and players can switch positions according to team tactics. The audience must remain silent during play to avoid interfering with the game.
